Yuting Luo
Yuting Luo is an assistant professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering and a core faculty member of the Ralph O’Connor Sustainable Energy Institute (ROSEI). She joined Hopkins in January 2024.
Luo’s research expertise includes designing and characterizing nanomaterials as well as fundamentally understanding the mechanism of phase transitions and transport properties for Li-ion batteries and all-solid-state batteries.
Before coming to Hopkins, Luo was a postdoctoral associate in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Her research at Illinois—funded by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA)–involved interfacial mechanisms and rational design of cathode materials for all-solid-state batteries. She also served as a visiting research scientist at Argonne National Lab from 2019-2022.
Luo earned her PhD at Texas A&M University 2022, and her BS at Nankai University in China, both in chemistry.
