The application period for the summer 2026 cohort of the Research on Sustainable Energy Technology and Systems (ROSETAS) program, a National Science Foundation (NSF) Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) site, has opened. ROSETAS is hosted by the Ralph O’Connor Sustainable Energy Institute (ROSEI) at Johns Hopkins University, and this is the second year of the program.

ROSETAS is a 10-week, residential research and professional development program. Accepted students will be provided with a $7,000 stipend and housing near the Johns Hopkins campus. The program is open to all US Citizen or permanent resident undergraduate students in any technical field who have completed at least one year of college and have not yet graduated with a bachelor’s degree.
The 2026 program will run from May 26 – July 31, and the list of projects can be seen before applying.
“I’m thrilled to invite all undergraduate students from relevant technical fields to apply for our 2026 cohort,” said Susanna Thon, an associate professor of electrical and computer engineering, the associate director of ROSEI and the director of ROSETAS. “This is your chance to immerse yourself in the groundbreaking research being done at ROSEI, collaborate with passionate peers, and gain invaluable experience in a supportive environment. If you’re ready to engage with important issues in the sustainable energy field, we welcome your application by February 2.”
Applications are due February 2, and you can apply here. Any questions about the program can be directed to Julie Lirot.
