The Academic Center for Reliability and Resilience of Offshore Wind (ARROW) recently released its first annual report, providing the first comprehensive summary of the national center’s activities.
ARROW was founded by the US Department of Energy, the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center and the Maryland Energy Administration to educate the next generation of professional OSW workers and deliver innovations that reduce costs and increase benefits to consumers. Johns Hopkins University through the Ralph O’Connor Sustainable Energy Institute has teamed with MEA and Morgan State University to lead the Maryland presence of ARROW.
“This first annual report is a major milestone for ARROW. It highlights the excellence we have built in offshore wind, and will continue to do so” said Ben Schafer, ROSEI’s director, who also serves as the associate director of ARROW. “I encourage everyone to take a look and see how we’re driving innovation and shaping the future of wind energy.”
Other ROSEI faculty members that are affiliated with ARROW includes Bentley Allan, associate professor of political science; Yury Dvorkin, associate professor of electrical and computer engineering, as well as civil and systems engineering; Dennice Gayme, professor of mechanical engineering; Ben Hobbs, professor of environmental health and engineering; Julie Lundquist the Bloomberg Distinguished Professor of Atmospheric Science and Wind Energy; Mahdi Mehrtash, an assistant research professor with ROSEI; Charles Meneveau, professor of mechanical engineering; and Michael Shields, a professor of civil and systems engineering.
