Rachel Sangree

Associate Teaching Professor, Department of Civil and Systems Engineering


Rachel Sangree is an associate teaching professor in the Department of Civil and Systems Engineering, serving as the department’s director of undergraduate studies and the program chair for Engineering for Professionals Civil Engineering.

Sangree’s research and academic interests include structural engineering, improving the treatment of historic structures, identifying and implementing effective teaching methods in the structural engineering undergraduate curriculum, and exploring methods to attract and retain future generations of civil engineers through community engagement and K-12 outreach.

She earned her BS and MSE degrees in civil engineering from Bucknell University, her Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University, and worked as a design engineer in the bridge group at Whitman, Requardt, and Associates in Baltimore, MD. She is a licensed professional engineer in the State of Maryland.
