The Whiting School of Engineering (WSE) and Ralph O’Connor Sustainable Energy Institute (ROSEI) will sponsor the 2024 ARPA-E Innovation Summit, set for May 22 to 24 at the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center in Dallas.
This is WSE/ROSEI’s second year serving as sponsors (called “partners”) of this event, which brings together nearly 3,000 experts from government, academia, and industry to collaborate and advance cutting-edge energy technologies with the goal of transitioning transformational energy technologies from the lab to the commercial market.
“ROSEI is excited to once again come together with the engineering school to partner at ARPA-E,” Ben Schafer, ROSEI’s director, said. “Energy has become a major research strength for Hopkins, and having ROSEI and WSE as partners at one of the biggest energy conferences in the United States reflects that.”
Schafer considers the 2023 Summit, held at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in National Harbor, MD, a major success for the institute. During the summit, ROSEI researchers met with Maryland Governor Wes Moore to discuss climate targets for the state. According to Schafer, the event also reinforced the institute’s collaborative relationships with prominent private companies such as GE Vernova, and enabled multiple ROSEI faculty members to secure ARPA-E funding for a variety of innovative projects.
“Our goal with last year’s summit was to show the energy community that Hopkins has arrived as a major player in their industry,” he said. “This year, we’re hoping to have even more people excited to join or work with us. Hopkins and ROSEI are expanding and we’re always looking to add new talent, whether that’s faculty or students coming to join us full-time or energy professionals becoming frequent collaborators. So, if you’re going to be in Dallas, stop by our booth to learn more about energy at Hopkins and to say hi.”
