The Ralph O’Connor Sustainable Energy Institute (ROSEI) recently created two new programs that aim to provide enhanced research experiences for selected postdoctoral scholars and PhD fellows. Each program is pledging to support two stipends for the upcoming 2025-2026 academic year, meaning four total individuals will be supported.
“ROSEI’s leadership is viewing these programs as a great way to broaden ROSEI’s impact in energy research, while also increasing the diversity of energy scholars closely associated with the institute,” said Ben Schafer, director of ROSEI. “Translation, both commercial and non-commercial, is going to be emphasized in the programs because that should help the participating scholars and fellows pursue impactful careers in energy. ROSEI wants Hopkins graduates to be leaders in the energy transition.”
The application period for both programs is currently open. Applicants for the postdoctoral program are encouraged to apply during the month of February as evaluation of candidates will begin on March 1. ROSEI core or associate faculty members must nominate candidates for the PhD fellowship, and the application period runs until March 31.
A committee made up of three ROSEI core and/or associate faculty members, who are not nominating candidates as potential advisors this cycle, will review the applications and make recommendations.
“One of ROSEI’s main goals since its inception has been to support sustainable energy research and education at all levels, and these programs will help us reach that goal,” said Susanna Thon, associate director of ROSEI. “We hope to attract top candidates that are ready to play big roles in the institute.”
